Avani Philipchuk’s voice was a surprise to her parents. As a child, she was quite shy so her mom put her in singing lessons as a way to find her voice. Those lessons were the catalyst in discovering her folkie, indie sound. Avani is inspired by artists such as  Mumford and Sons, Hozier, Coldplay and this is evident in the tone of her voice and her stage presence. She recently started teaching herself guitar and recorded and produced her first song and music video which was the Foo Fighters cover, Times Like These. This video was featured on CBC and Global News and received over 15,000 views. Avani joined a band called Liam and the Spilled Milk, who auditioned for Battle Of the Bands, and made it to the finals. The next step in her music discovery will be continued collaboration in a band which will enable her to take her music to a whole new level.
